How to Make Your Cards Metallic Using Heat Embossing
For today’s project, we’re going to create four cards with a metallic focal point using the Amber Autumn and Ornamental Christmas stamp sets! Making a foiled image on your cards is very easy and is achieved by heat embossing. I have a YouTube video tutorial linked below that shows you the step-by-step directions for how to heat emboss. I will also write out the steps in this post!
Card Recipe:
For each of the cards, I used the same simple layout. I’ll go over the measurements, then showcase the color combinations I used.
-Cut your card base at 4.25”x11”
-Score your card at 5.5” and fold in half
-Cut a piece of matching cardstock at 3.75”x5”
-Emboss that piece with the Forever Plaid Embossing folder
-Cut a strip of Peaceful Garden DSP at 2.75”x5”
-Cut the 3rd largest and the largest Stylish Shape circles for your image and sentiment
-Cut a piece of basic white card stock at 4”x5.25” for your insert
-Cut a piece of Peaceful Garden DSP at 1/2”x4” to place at the bottom of your card insert
-Use your stamping tool to rub the static off your largest die cut circle, then stamp your image with Versamark clear ink
-Cover the clear stamped image with metallic embossing powder of your choice
-Use your heat tool on the highest setting and emboss until the finish turns metallic
-Stamp your sentiments and adhere each element to your card
Color Combinations:
Basic Beige + Gold
For this card, I used the pumpkin image from the Autumn Amber stamp set. I paired Basic Beige, Gold, and Crumb Cake together with Early Espresso ink.
Cloud Cover + Copper
I just love Cloud Cover! I paired it with copper and Night of Navy ink. I used the acorn image from the Autumn Amber stamp set and love the way this turned out!
Misty Moonlight + Silver
Silver is great to use at Christmastime. So, for this card, I used Misty Moonlight and silver, along with the images from the Ornamental Christmas stamp set.
White + Gold
I love using gold at Christmastime as well. This card features clean lines with white, gold, and black. I used the tree from the Ornamental Christmas stamp set!
For the inside of the autumn cards, I stamped, “Grateful for you”. For the Christmas cards, I stamped, “Merry Christmas” on the inside.
